We are specialists in the field of electromagnetic radiation / energy testing and shielding. A Building Biologist has received specialised training in relation to how electrical fields ( EF ), electromagnetic fields ( EMF ) and electromagnetic radiation ( EMR ) should be measured and how exposure to these fields can be minimised or eliminated. This is a highly specialised field of expertise and it is important that the EMF / EMR exposure levels are measured correctly and that recommendations and advice is provided to ensure the protection of the occupant/s.
There is much controversy and debate in relation to the potential adverse health effects relating to exposure to electromagnetic energy or electromagnetic radiation from so called mobile phone base stations / phone towers / phone masts. It is important to note that standards relating to "safe" exposure levels vary dramatically around the world and that the Australian standards do not take biological effects (the way in which your blood, cells, hormones etc. may be affected) on the human body into account. Only thermal effects (the degree to which the body tissue is heated) are considered and this is stated clearly in the standard itself.
Ecolibria prides itself in implementing the precautionary principle and will recommend the most prudent exposure levels at which no controversy exist in relation to health effects. In our experience we have found that most individuals experience improved levels of energy, clarity of thought, ringing in the ears and general level of health when exposure levels to EMR are within European Building Biology guidelines.
