Phone Towers and EMR
Understanding phone towers and their associated potential health affects due to the elctromagnetic energy they emit can be difficult. This site offers simple explanations and solutions.
The easiest way to explain what is happening when you here about electromagnetic radiation from phone towers is that you are exposed to a form of electricity in the air. You cannot see or feel this electricity ( unless you are electrically sensitive ) and some people are more sensitive than others. This is easily explained in the same terms as some people being able to smoke and live well into their nineties and others develop cancer after a few years. As we all have different constitutiens we all react differently.
However , unlike smoking where there is a choice involved we do not currently have that luxury when it comes to phone towers and other wireless radio frequency transmitters ( like radio , radar , wifi etc. ). We have also never been exposed to so much electromagnetic radiation ( or electricity in the air ) in the history of the planet and it is therefore not right to say that there are no harmful effects from wireless transmitters.
In fact we are filling our homes with them. Most of us have cordless phones and if they are DECT cordless phones there is a good chance that the base station ( cradle in which the main hand set sits ) eminates microwaves 24 hours a day 7 days a week regardless of whether you are using the phone or not ( the base station simply has to be plugged in and switched on ). The frequency used to transmit is usually 2.4GHz or 5.6 GHz . Have a look at your microwave oven and see what frequency is utilised there ( usually around 2.4GHz ).
